FY2025 Budget Process

On April 22, 2024, the Board of Estimate and Apportionment (E&A) made up of the Mayor, the Comptroller, and the President of the Board of Aldermen approved the proposed budget for FY25 and recommended and submitted the budget to the Board of Aldermen (BOA) for adoption.

The budget was introduced as Board Bill No. 1 on April 26, 2024. During the months of May and June, the Budget and Public Employees Committee (formerly known as the Ways and Means Committee) of the BOA will hold  hearings on the budget to hear from various City departments as well as public hearings to hear from the general public. The Budget and Public Employees may consider any number of amendments to the budget, with any requested additions requiring approval from the Board of E&A. The Board of E&A will typically consider amendments at its meeting in June and send the budget with any approved amendments back to the Committee which will then consider and submit the budget with amendments to the full BOA for final adoption. If the BOA does not approve a budget by the beginning of the fiscal year on July 1, 2024, the proposed budget by the Board of E&A shall be deemed to have been approved. The FY2025 budget will go into effect July 1, 2024.
