Change Your Clock Change Your Battery Blitz

WHO:  The St. Louis Fire Department

WHAT:  Change Your Clock Change Your Battery Blitz

WHEN:  Saturday, March 9, 2013

WHERE:  Throughout the City of St. Louis

The St. Louis Fire Department reminds everyone that as daylight-saving time begins Sunday, March 10, at 2 a.m., this is the appropriate weekend to "Change Your Clock Change Your Batteries."

This program urges everyone to adopt a simple, and potentially lifesaving, habit of changing your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm batteries the same weekend that you change your clocks.

The St. Louis Fire Department will conduct a smoke alarm blitz on Saturday, March 9, 2013.  Firefighters will be going door-to-door installing batteries in residential smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.

Changing smoke alarm and carbon monoxide batteries at least once a year, testing those alarms monthly, and reminding others to do the same are some of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce tragic deaths and injuries.

Any city resident in need of a smoke alarm can contact the St. Louis Fire Department Headquarters, Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at (314) 533-3406.

For more information, contact Captain Dan Sutter, (314) 387-1591.
