Vote By Absentee Ballot

Instructions to vote absentee after your absentee application has been approved and you have received your absentee ballot.

Overview

If you have already applied for and received an absentee ballot, follow the instructions below to cast your ballot.

 

Preparation

  1. Make sure that you have received your absentee ballot in the mail.
  2. Determine if your ballot needs to be notarized.
    • If your ballot needs to be notarized, you'll be required to fill it out in front of the notary. Locate a notary first, bring them the blank ballot, fill it out in the presence of the notary.
    • If your ballot does not need to be notarized, you may fill it out and sign it at any time.

Submit your Absentee Ballot using one of the following methods:

By Mail

Mail the completed ballot to:

In Person

Absentee voting at the Election Board begins 6 weeks before each election at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 5:00 P.M. on the Monday before each election. 

Bring an acceptable form of identification with you to cast your ballot at the Board office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

By a Guardian or Relative

If you are a guardian or relative who wants to submit an absentee ballot on behalf of a voter, you must do so in person at the Election Board office.

Only relatives with a specific degree of affiliation to the voter may submit a ballot on another voter's behalf. When you come to the Election Board office, you will have to sign a form attesting to the relationship.

What to Expect

After mailing in your ballot, you will not receive confirmation of your vote, unless you've sent your ballot via certified mail.

If you cast your absentee ballot in person, you will receive a receipt with a ballot track ID on it. You can use this ID to track your ballot online.
