Overview

The City of St. Louis Ordinance Number 66264 established the rules for Alarm Registration and False Alarm Management. 

Excessive false alarms or non-payment of fees will result in permit suspension and denial of police response to alarm dispatch requests.

Preparation

Before Paying your Alarm Fees be sure your alarm is registered and you have a permit number.

False Alarm Service Fees are due within 15 days of issuance. Non-payment will result in permit suspension.

2 $25.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
3 $50.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
4 $50.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm, the service fee, and suspension. Permit suspended 30 days. (*)
5 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
6 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
7 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
8 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm, the service fee, and suspension. Permit suspended 365 days. (*) 

What to Expect

A receipt of payment for fines incurred for subsequent false alarms.

 

Additional Information

To appeal a false alarm fine

Submit payment of your false alarm fine and include your written appeal.
All fines must be paid by the due date on the invoice for appeals to be considered. Paid fines will be refunded if an appeal is approved. 

Written appeals must include:

  • The name of the permit holder
  • The permit number
  • The transaction number of the false alarm fine
  • An explanation of the reason the fine is in error
    Review Ordinance 66264 to assist you in determining acceptable reasons for appeal.

Allow 14 days for disposition of the appeal. You will be mailed written notification of the appeal resolution.

Permit Suspension

The CITY OF SAINT LOUIS does not grant payment extensions for permit registration fees or false alarm fines. 

Your permit may be suspended for:

  • Excessive false alarms
  • Non-payment of registration fees - (Permit renewals must be received with 15 days of the renewal date)
  • Non-payment of false alarm fines - (Payments must be received within 15 days of the date the false alarm occurred)

If your permit has been suspended, the CITY OF SAINT LOUIS will deny police response to alarm dispatch requests. Contact your alarm company with questions or to change permit information.

Transfering Permit

Alarm permits are not transferable. A new alarm permit must be obtained by the new alarm company.
