CLASSROOM PRESENTATIONS
The City of St. Louis Refuse Division offers environmental education programs at no charge to all K-12 public and private schools and youth groups located within the City of St. Louis.
Our programs are designed to fit into your existing curriculum, and to support Missouri’s Show-Me Standards. Most can be altered to meet the needs of any grade level.
The following is a complete list of programs available.

| CORE PROGRAM: RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING |
PreK-12 | This program is a basic overview of the recycling process. Students will learn the importance of protecting the environment and how recycling conserves natural resources. Find out how the City of St. Louis recycles, and how you can participate! |
| "3" IS A MAGIC NUMBER |
PreK-2 | Students are introduced to the 3 R's (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) through a puppet show and catchy songs. Students will learn why it is important to practice the 3 R's and what they can and cannot recycle in their community. |
| LET'S TAKE CARE OF THE EARTH | PreK-2 | Students will explore recycling with the aid of a flannel board story and sing-a-long |
| AWESOME ALUMINUM |
3-8 | In this program, students delve deep into the life of the most efficient metal in the recycling process. Students will simulate aluminum miners to demonstrate the resources used in processing aluminum from raw materials. |
| IT'S A PLASTIC WORLD |
3-8 |
Through chemistry lab projects, students will learn to identify the resins of plastics #1-#7. |
| THE PAPER TRAIL |

Live a day in the life of a piece of paper! Follow it from the forest to the paper mill and to your hands. Find out how to keep paper from ending up in a landfill. To help students understand the need to recycle paper, we will demonstrate the process of paper recycling in the classroom! Optional paper making workshop available. |

3-8 | Learn all about composting- the process, the benefits, and the reasons behind it all. Touch and see real compost, and learn how to start your own composting project! Optional desktop composting project available. |
