Westward from DeBaliviere Avenue to the city limits and extending south from Delmar across Forest Park to Oakland Avenue lies the Kingsbury neighborhood area. North of the park the land is relatively flat and was bisected by the River des Peres before that stream was placed underground as a sewer about 1930. The level land continues southward to a point about midway across Forest Park where a ridge of hills, including Art Hill, is encountered. The southwestern corner of the park is rolling in character with a general rise in the topography culminating in Hi-Pointe at Skinker and Oakland. This rise is perceptible on Skinker south of Wydown and also to the west where it forms the "Hill" of Washington University.
