Ron Brendel Speaks at AIA 'Brown Bag' Code Lunch

Ronald Brendel, PE, Senior Plan Reviewer/Code Development Specialist for the City of St. Louis Department of Public Safety, was guest speaker at  The "Brown Bag" Code Series on March 15 at The Masonry Institute of St. Louis.  The series is sponsored by the American Institute of Architects St. Louis Building Code Committee, the St. Louis Professional Chapter of the International Code Council.

The topic of Brendel's presentation was seismic issues and concerns. His remarks covered the New Madrid quakes of 1811-12, Iben Browning's prediction of a major earthquake in this area and the need for everyone to be prepared, a little history on the seismic codes for this area, and what to look for when reviewing a set of plans.

Brendel has worked for the Building Commissioner's Office for more than 33 years.  He is a past president of the Missouri Association of Building Officials and Inspectors and The Society of Fire Protection Engineers.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of BOCA, International.
