Departments and Agencies
The Building Division is responsible for ensuring that residents and businesses comply with the City building code. The Building Division issues building permits, conducts building inspections, demolishes vacant buildings, and enforces zoning ordinances. The division also operates the Housing Conservation Program designed to preserve the City's housing stock.
The Zoning Section is responsible for administering and enforcing the City of St. Louis Zoning Code Ordinance.

The Strategic Land Use Map assigns land use designations to each block in the City. The pattern of colors represents the essential components of a strong and vibrant urban landscape, a landscape with both variety and cohesiveness.
