UMSL MLK Day of Service
01/20/20, 7:45 AM - 1:00 PM
Notice: Because of the Global Pandemic declared on March 11, 2020, and subsequent Federal, State and Local Public Health Orders, for the protection of the public and in keeping with CDC guidelines, meetings will be restricted to no more than 10 persons maintaining a distance of 6 feet apart. Many meetings will be held via video/teleconference in lieu of in-person meetings. Please review the meeting notice closely for instructions on where/how to join the meeting.
MLK Day of Service is a national initiative to make the recognition of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a “day on, not a day off." Volunteers learn that small changes can have a huge impact within their own neighborhood. Past projects undertaken on MLK Day of Service have included painting, landscaping and remodeling houses for low-income families and homeowners, tutoring elementary school students, and upgrading school classrooms and resource centers.
MLK Day of Service is open to anyone 13+. Minors must be accompanied by an adult and waivers must be signed by the parent/guardian (sent in advance).
The priority registration deadline is 5 pm on January 9 (or when sites are full, whichever comes first). After that date, we cannot guarantee shirts/shirt sizes for volunteers.
UMSL Students, Staff and Faculty will access sites registrations and descriptions at https://umsl.campuslabs.com/engage/event/5258022.
Community members (includes alumni and non-UMSL guests) will access sites registrations and descriptions at http://bit.do/umslmlkday2020.
