The 2016 Property Tax Rates for the City of St. Louis were certified and completed on October 7, 2016. These rates will be used to compute the property taxes that will be billed in November 2016 and due by December 31, 2016.

There are three sets of tax rates:

  • General Tax Rates (Applies to real estate and personal property)
  • Merchants and Manufacturers Tax Rates (Applies only to equipment and machinery taxed by the License Collector)
  • Special Business District Tax Rates (Applies only in specific geographic districts that have voted to incur a property tax in addition to the General Tax Rate
There have been significant changes to the tax rates for 2016 due to voter approved increases for both the Public Schools tax rate and the Metropolitan Sewer District tax rate. Additionally, there were slight changes in the tax rate for St. Louis Community College, the Metropolitan Zoo & Museum District and the City of St. Louis.

Even though 2016 is a non-reassessment year and the assessor did not reassess property values, the changes in the tax rates will result in tax increases as much as 10.44% for property owners in 2016.

2015 tax rate is $7.5898 per $100 of assessed valuation
2016 tax rate is $8.3818 per $100 of assessed valuation
