City of St. Louis Department of Personnel Honored at Urban League's Inaugural Employers Appreciation Luncheon
DOP has been recognized by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis for its outstanding efforts in providing employment to people in our community.
The City of St. Louis Department of Personnel has been recognized by the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis for its outstanding efforts in hiring and recruitment, providing employment to thousands of people in our community.
The Urban League held its inaugural Employers Appreciation Luncheon at the Marriott Hotel on August 2, 2024. During the event, Michael P. McMillan, President and CEO of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, presented Dr. Anthony Byrd Sr. from the City’s Department of Personnel with an award to acknowledge the department’s significant contributions to boosting the workforce of the City.
The department was acknowledged for the successful outcome of its community job fairs and its effective partnership with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. With over 5,000 employees, the City is one of the largest employers in the region, and its departments play a central role in the lives of residents every day.
“We are deeply grateful to the Urban League for this recognition and for their unwavering partnership,” said Sonya Gray, Director of Personnel. “The Urban League’s dedicated initiatives, events, and people bring instrumental change and development to our community. By working together, we aim to provide employment opportunities, improve livelihoods, and make St. Louis a better, more equitable place to live, work, and play.”
“The City of St. Louis and all our departments depend on the Department of Personnel, and we are thrilled to see them get this recognition,” said Mayor Tishauro O. Jones. “Director Gray and her staff have made concrete efforts - like modernizing our application software this year to improve speed and transparency in hiring - that help our City deliver better services to St. Louisans. I congratulate the department on this well-deserved award.”
