Mayor Lyda Krewson, Public Safety Director Judge Jimmie Edwards, and Police Commissioner Chief John Hayden issued the following statement today upon releasing the final assessment report from Teneo Risk on the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department:

“On behalf of the City of St. Louis, we’d like to thank Commissioner Charles Ramsey, the entire team at Teneo Risk, the Civic Progress companies, and the Regional Business Council for the opportunities provided to us by this thorough review of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Our shared goal is to always improve our department and, most importantly, work together to reduce violent crime in our community. The team at Teneo Risk brings together the most experienced, successful, and highly regarded group of law enforcement professionals in the country.

This morning, we received the lengthy final report and will immediately begin to review the hundreds of key findings and recommendations. Under the leadership of Chief John Hayden, we’ll also be forming a Review & Implementation Team in the police department to further analyze and study the report so we can build upon the best of our department and its dedicated officers who bravely serve and protect us every day.

We look forward to continuing to work with Teneo over the coming weeks and months.”

You can view the final assessment report on the City’s website here. Mayor Krewson, Judge Edwards, and Chief Hayden previously announced the six-month outside review of the police
department on July 1.
