How to Pay a Traffic Ticket and Plead Guilty Without a Court Appearance
If you want to plead guilty and pay your fine on a traffic citation without a court appearance, you may do that through the Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB) without a court appearance unless your charge is one that requires a court appearance.
Many minor traffic citations may be paid before the first court date through the Traffic Violations Bureau without a court appearance.
This Schedule lists minor traffic offenses that may usually be paid without a court appearance along with the scheduled fine amount.
The fine amount shown on the Schedule does not include the court costs. A court cost of $50.50 will be added to the fine for each ticket paid through the Traffic Violations Bureau.
The following cases require a court appearance and cannot be paid without a court appearance:
You must appear in court for all non-traffic offenses (such as housing and nuisance cases, peace disturbance, petty larceny, resisting, interfering or trash charges).
You must also appear in court for serious traffic offenses, such as DUI, Leaving the Scene, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, speeding 20 miles or more over the speed limit, when you have had two or more moving violation convictions within the immediately preceding twenty (24) months, or if your traffic citation involves a motor vehicle accident.
Please read and understand Your Rights In the Municipal Division.
