Nature of Work
This is an upper level management position responsible for directing and managing fiscal and accounting activities of a major City department. The incumbent may be responsible for developing and recommending new and revised statutes, rules, policies, and procedures to respond to changes in operational/program needs, objectives, and priorities and to improve the effectiveness of managed operations/programs. Responsibilities may also include: grants management; budget preparation and control; contract awarding; overseeing/directing Custodian of Records duties; overseeing/directing duties of subordinates, and departmental payroll. Position requires strong supervisory skills and the ability to work well with other City departments and outside federal, state, and local funding sources.

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related field and, five years of progressively responsible financial management experience including at least two years in a supervisory capacity. OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and accounting system software. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
