Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for performing assigned manual labor duties such as moving and cleaning equipment, grounds maintenance, refuse collection, tree and branch trimming and removal, boarding up vacant buildings, and other similar duties. License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing the Employment Application. Please note kind of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: One year of full-time paid experience in general manual labor, groundskeeping or construction work. OR one season with the City of St. Louis as a Laborer or Utility Worker.

CHARACTER INVESTIGATION: These positions require candidates to pass a "Character Investigation" prior to appointment. The Director of Personnel may reject the application, or refuse to test and/or eliminate an applicant from an examination as otherwise permitted by law.
MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of the medical examination.
VETERANS PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veterans preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
