  • Maximum: $47,502.00
Normal entry salary is $30,394.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position receive and evaluate telephone calls for emergency medical assistance and dispatch appropriate emergency medical response personnel to the scene. Work involves shift, weekend, holiday and mandatory overtime assignments. A shift differential is paid for evening and night work. Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; AND: One year of recent full-time paid dispatching experience;

OR: One year of customer service experience in a call center work environment.

Certification: Applicants must obtain a current Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification issued by the National Academies of Emergency Medical Dispatch by the end of their working test period and maintain it while employed by the City of St. Louis.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a current EMD certification or other public safety work experience.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a Drug Screen Test as part of the medical examination. Incumbents are subject to random Drug Screen and Alcohol Tests as a condition of their employment.

VETERANS PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veterans preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.

  • Medical Examination: Pass/Fail

No waiver of the Residency Requirement will be granted.
