Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position supervise the work activities of Airport Police Sergeants, Airport Police Officers and clerical support staff at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Duties include supervising the operations of the Airport Police Unit, analyzing information and recommending changes in working conditions, methods, or procedures. Work involves shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Education: A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate.
Experience: At least five years of full-time paid experience as an Airport Police Officer by January 27, 2017.
License: Applicants must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: An Associate’s degree in the field of Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement from a nationally accredited college or university. Two years of previous experience supervising subordinate Police Officers as an Airport Police Sergeant.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Complete the Employment History and Educational/Training History sections of the Employment Application even if you submit a resume. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. When completing the Employment History section of the application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the employee must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.
