  • Minimum: $33,774.00
  • Maximum: $48,438.00
Applicants with ASE 'Master Automobile Technician" certification through the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence will be paid a minimum annual salary of $37,466. Proof of certification must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position perform preventative maintenance duties and repair of automotive equipment and vehicles. Duties include assisting automotive mechanics and heavy equipment mechanics in complete engine, transmission, differential, brakes, clutch, hydraulic and other overhaul and repairs.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful completion of a recognized trade school or junior college program in automotive technology, OR two years of recent full-time paid experience in the repair and maintenance of automotive equipment and vehicles. OR, an equivalent combination of  training and experience. Must be able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles. Must furnish own set of tools.

Proof of qualifying educational achievement must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.

License: Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles. Applicants who do not possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) (Class B) must obtain said license by completion of the working test period. Incumbents must maintain the CDL while employed by the City of St Louis.
