Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position manage the operations and maintenance of municipal water purification facilities. Duties include serving as one of three licensed chief operators over two water purification plants; controlling treatment methods and planning, scheduling and coordinating maintenance and construction projects. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering; plus five years of water treatment facility operating experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certification: Must obtain a Missouri Class "A" Public Drinking Water Treatment Systems Operator Certification by completion of the working test period.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license must present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the employee must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentations.
