Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position supervise and coordinate efforts of Stationary Engineers in order to operate and maintain stationary engines and mechanical equipment to ensure safe, continuous delivery of city services. A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus three years of experience as a licensed Stationary Engineer. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses: Applicants must possess and maintain all of the following while employed by the City of St. Louis: a current Stationary Engineer’s License (Class 1) issued by the City of St. Louis and a valid Missouri driver's license. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license must also submit a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
Copies of licenses and if applicable, current Water Supply Operator's Certificate must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
VETERANS PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veterans preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.
A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
