Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position develop, coordinate and implement specialized emergency training programs and track training of Fire Division licensed ambulance personnel. Duties include developing and instructing all EMS new employee orientation/refresher courses and EMT-B courses for Probationary Firefighters; tracking license expiration dates and assisting with renewals and developing specifications and training for new equipment.

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus two years of clinical experience as an EMT-P, EMT-B, or licensure as a registered nurse or physician with at least two years of clinical experience. OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess and maintain all of the following licenses and certifications at the time of filing application and while employed by the City of St. Louis: • State of Missouri EMT-P License; • Missouri driver’s license. Note license number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. At the time of the Oral Interview, applicants without a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles. • Documentation of instructor status in one of the following: Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Basic Life Support (BLS); International Trauma Life Support (ITLS); Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or experience as a laboratory or guest instructor with an EMS training entity.
