Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position supervise the retention and release of records from the Police Division's Records Unit. Duties include responding to subpoenas and other requests for information; determining information to be released; reviewing and signing affidavits; testifying in court and supervising unit staff. Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration or a related field; plus two years of records retention/archival management experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.

Certification: As part of the character investigation, applicants must meet the minimum screening requirements for certification to access the REJIS Criminal Justice Information System.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience responding to Sunshine Law requests. At least one year of previous supervisory experience.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a “Drug Screen” as part of the medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
