Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position assist with planning, coordinating and monitoring City Emergency Management Agency programs. Duties include drafting planning documents; working with City agencies to map out critical infrastructure; participating in a variety of community preparedness events and responding to special events and disasters. A Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Safety Management, Risk Management, or a related field. OR an Associate's degree and two years of related emergency management experience. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not have a Missouri driver's license must submit a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
Position requires being on call to monitor/respond to weather related incidents, hazard materials incidents and other emergencies, disasters, or holiday festivities and major sporting events.
Candidates must provide their availability for on call and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.

The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
