Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for planning and leading audits of general business operations of the City of St. Louis for ensuring the overall effectiveness of the internal auditing staff and completing quarterly and annual audit plans.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting; plus five years of auditing experience in an internal audit environment including at least two years of supervisory experience relating to risk-based and performance auditing of governmental activities. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Licenses: Applicants must possess and maintain all of the following while employed by the City of St. Louis: a Certified Public Accountant license or a Certified Internal Auditor license and a valid Missouri driver's license. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles at the time of the Oral Interview. Applicants who do not have a C.P.A. with a license to practice in Missouri must be able to obtain licensure in Missouri by completion of the working test period.

Documentation of CPA or CIA must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
