Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for removing lead-based paint from buildings and homes and performing repair work. Employees will be required to submit to testing of toxic blood levels on a monthly basis and must follow all revised City Lead Detoxification Program procedures and safety protocols.

One year of experience working in lead abatement, asbestos abatement, housing repair or inspection or environmental remediation work. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses: Must possess a valid Missouri Lead Abatement Worker License while employed by the City of St. Louis. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri Lead Abatement Worker License at the time of filing application must obtain said license by completion of the working test period. Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Certifications: Must become EAP and RRP certified by completion of the working test period.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of painting, drywall installation and door and window removal/installation techniques. Experience scraping and removing lead based paints from homes. Experience using saws, hammers, electric drills, scrapers and HEPA vacuums.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of the medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
