Normal entry salary is $41,730.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position monitor airport operations for compliance with FAA rules and Airport Authority policies and regulations to ensure safety and efficient operations. Duties include monitoring  and operating communications equipment, responding to airfield and terminal emergencies and resolving tenant requests and complaints.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Administration, or a related field; OR four years of full-time paid experience in aviation administration.  Must be familiar with airport operations, communication systems, safety procedures, and FAA regulations. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.

Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments, mandatory overtime and 24-hour snow call.  Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass a  “Drug Screen" as part of the medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the  Oral Interview.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.

Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a community allowance of $141.00 bi-weekly.

A ten-year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.
