Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for the feeding, grooming, medicating and general health inspection/care of horses in the Mounted Patrol Unit of the Department of Public Safety's Police Division.

One year of experience in the daily care of horses which includes feeding, grooming, medicating, and general health inspection. OR one year of experience handling and caring for animals in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or kennel. OR an Associate’s degree from an accredited Veterinary Technician program. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Documentation of academic credentials (if applicable) must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Previous experience feeding, grooming and caring for horses is preferred.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of their medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
