Normal entry salary is $54,860.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for planning, directing and managing crews engaged in facilities maintenance, construction and repair projects at all City parks and recreational facilities.  Duties include planning for capital improvement projects and formulating budgetary requests; attending pre-construction meetings and coordinating access to sites; supervising the work of a large number of workers performing construction, building maintenance and mechanical equipment repair duties and participating in post construction inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate’s degree in facility maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, electrical engineering or a closely related field; plus five years of experience in the facilities maintenance trade which includes at least three years of experience supervising skilled employees in the building maintenance and construction trades.  OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present license at the time of the Oral Interview.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, experience and training as listed on the Employment Application. Please fully describe your parks maintenance management experience and academic achievement.  Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. Applicants must provide explanation for all changes in employment and any gaps in their employment history.  Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
