Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position are responsible for performing and leading a crew of workers in grounds maintenance duties including mowing grass, string trimming, preparing athletic fields for sporting events, cleaning comfort stations, removing snow and ice and inspecting park facilities.

Three years of experience in groundskeeping and a working knowledge of current horticultural practices. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on their qualifying experience and training as listed on the Employment Application. Please fully describe your qualifying groundskeeping experience. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
