Normal entry salary is $41,730.

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position develop employment opportunities with employers, research and identify potential job openings, recruit employment and training program clients and manage client cases to provide employment and training; or they may serve as lead workers engaged in assessing employment skills of clients, developing plans to improve employment potential, and advising and counseling clients about training/employment skills.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or a closely related social sciences field such as Psychology, Sociology, or Education; plus two years of experience in career services and counseling, candidate recruitment, selection and placement, and preparation and maintenance of client/personnel records. A Master’s degree in one of the above listed disciplines may be substituted for one year of required experience. OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview.  Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not have a Missouri driver's license must submit a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
