The eligible list from this examination will be used to fill both permanent and per performance positions. Per performance positions are paid $20.31 on an hourly basis, do not require City residency and are not eligible for employee benefits.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position respond to calls for emergency medical assistance and provide advanced medical care to the sick and injured.

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate.
Certification: Current certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association.
Licenses: Applicants must possess and maintain all of the following while employed by the City of St. Louis: a Missouri EMT-P (Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic) License and a valid driver's license. At the time of the Performance Test, applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver's license will be required to present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles. Applicants who possess an EMT-P License from another state must obtain Missouri license reciprocity prior to appointment. Please note type of licenses, numbers and expiration dates on the Employment Application.
Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
Copies of certification and licenses must be submitted at the time of the Performance Test.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Performance Test based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Performance Test. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
