City residency requirements may be waived for this position.
Applicants who meet the minimum experience and training requirements will start at $36,478 annually. Applicants who have successfully completed a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and obtained journeyman status will start at $47,684 annually. Proof of successful completion of a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and journeyman status must be submitted upon request.
This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1500.00). The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant. The hiring incentive is not available to current City employees.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment.

An Associate's degree or completion of a two year training program in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating Technology from a recognized trade school or junior college; plus one year of experience in the diagnosis, installation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems doing commercial and institutional HVAC service and installation work. OR, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certification: Candidates must be certified in EPA Standards at the Universal level (Type I, II and III) for refrigeration handling.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.
Documentation of academic credentials, certification in EPA Standards and proof of completion of a bona fide apprenticeship program registered with the Department of Labor and journeyman status (if applicable) must be submitted upon request.
MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass an oral swab "Drug Screen" as part of the Medical examination.
