Nature of Work
Incumbent in this position reports to the Director of Public Safety and is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising and controlling the operations/programs of the Division of Corrections for the City of St. Louis Department of Public Safety.

A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field; plus five years of experience at a major adult correctional institution including at least two years in an upper level management capacity with responsibility for directing the activities of one or more large correctional facilities. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Complete the Employment History and Educational/Training History sections of the Employment Application even if you submit a resume. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application. When completing the Employment History section of the application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
