Bi-Weekly Pay Rate $1,278.00

Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position inspect and survey properties, research records and sales data, calculate property values and perform value analysis for the purpose of real property tax assessment. Incumbents must provide their own transportation. A monthly mileage allowance of $270.00 will be paid for appraisal field work.

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate and six semester hours of college-level course work in real property appraisal and assessment; OR successful completion of two appraisal courses from a recognized appraisal school; plus one year of recent administrative/advanced clerical experience, preferably in the area of real property appraisal, personal property appraisal, or real estate records. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess license at the time of filing application and be able to present it upon request. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. 

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted upon request.

A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application.  Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.  When completing the Employment History section of the application, include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment.  Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
