Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for performing lead worker duties for unskilled and semi-skilled manual tasks in repair and construction, street maintenance, and refuse collection.  Examples of duties include:  setting-up and operating a wide variety of vehicles, tools and equipment; loading, hauling and unloading bulky items; maintaining City streets and alleys; cutting grass, repairing, painting and assembling dumpsters; training, monitoring and reporting on co-worker work performance.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of recent experience as a Utility Worker or equivalent.

Age:  Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of filing application.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Driver’s License while employed by the City of St. Louis; some positions require a valid Commercial Driver's License or CDL permit (Class A or B) to be considered.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  A valid Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B). Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.

MEDICAL:  The pre-employment medical exam will include an oral swab “Drug Screen” and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing will be conducted in accordance with D.O.T. regulations.
