Position Specifications

Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising the inspection and review of all aspects of various construction projects throughout the City of St. Louis to assure compliance with contracts, plans, and specifications on behalf of contractors and city agencies; possess a through knowledge of commercial roofing, and building envelope construction and design systems, as well as associated legal issues and safety standards. Duties include: reviewing schedules, plans, specifications and cost estimates of assigned projects; coordinating and assigning inspections of completed work and directing crews in correcting any deficiencies; coordinating all phases of work with contractors, BPS and client agencies; preparing field reports; and directing subordinates in their tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; plus two years of experience in construction management and inspection that includes roofing. OR (5) years of experience in commercial roofing and building envelope project management. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present license upon request. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  Some prior supervisory or lead worker experience is preferred.

CITY RESIDENTS PREFERENCE POINTS: City residents who pass an examination for a position in the classified service and do not receive any other preference will receive a five (5) point preference on a scale of 100 points on the exam. An additional one (1) point shall be added to the passing score of City residents who receive any other preference on a scale of 100 points.  City residents must have resided in the City for at least one (1) year at the time of filing their application to be eligible for the preference points.
