Information homeowners and residents need to know about Alarm Registration & False Alarm Management

Overview

The City of St. Louis Ordinance Number 66264 established the rules for Alarm Registration and False Alarm Management. 

In addition to mandatory registration of alarm systems and an annual permit fee, alarm owners are subject to false alarm service fees and permit suspension. 

Excessive false alarms or non-payment of fees will result in permit suspension and denial of police response to alarm dispatch requests.

 

Preparation

The ordinance requires all wireline, wireless, monitored and unmonitored, residential and commercial security alarm systems to be registered with the City of St. Louis. The ordinance does not apply to fire alarm systems.

To complete the alarm permit application form have the following information readily available: owner name, address, contact information, electrical permit information for wired systems, name of the alarm company monitoring the system,

Instructions

To register your alarm:

  1. print the Alarm system Registration form
  2. complete it and mail with your registration payment to:
City of St. Louis - ARFAM
P. O. Box 790106
St. Louis, MO 63179-0106

You will receive a notice via return mail containing your permit number.

Fees

False Alarm Service Fees may be paid using the following methods:

Online

Use Visa/Master Card/American Express and pay online.

By Mail

Mail a check or money order with your permit number to:

False Alarm Service Fees

False Alarm Service Fees are due within 15 days of issuance. Non-payment will result in permit suspension.

2 $25.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.

4 $50.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm, the service fee, and suspension. Permit suspended 30 days. (*)
5 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
6 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
7 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm and the service fee.
8 $100.00 Alarm owner notified of the false alarm, the service fee, and suspension. Permit suspended 365 days. (*) 

What to Expect

After successfully submitting the complete form you will receive a notice via return mail containing your permit number.  

A receipt of payment for fines incurred for subsequent false alarms.
