Heavy Equipment Operators work the muscle machines that are vital to any building project. They use heavy construction equipment for moving dirt, paving and lifting. They also assist in the proper maintenance of equipment to ensure safe long-term operation.

Program Benefits:

Apprenticeship is conducted by the industry leader, Operating Engineers I.U.O.E Local No. 513. It includes a combination of a classroom study with on-the-job training. At the end, apprentices receive industry certification.


GED/High School Diploma
Age 18 years or older
Able to pass background check with finger printing and drug screening
Should posses mechanical inclination, basic reading and math skills, and the willingness to learn.
