Summary
This one-year, on-the-job training program prepares apprentices for employment as phlebotomists and/or laboratory technicians for the healthcare industry.

Provided by Urban Labs Diagnostic Healthcare Solutions, in partnership with SLATE, the program includes Fall and Spring semesters along with a Summer internship in a healthcare environment.

The coursework includes:

Basic anatomy pertinent to blood collection
Basic laboratory safety
Communication skills
Specimen processing
Related interdisciplinary tasks
Lab experience of blood draw techniques and processing biological samples in a variety of testing applications.

Requirements:

GED/High School Diploma
Age 18 years or older
Able to pass background check with finger printing and drug screening
Phlebotomy -WorkKeys Assessment: Reading-4, Math-3 and Locating Information-4
Lab Tech - WorkKeys Assessment: Reading-5, Math-4 and Locating Information-5
