The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) American Job Center offers no cost legal assistance to entrepreneurs at all stages of business development, whether launching a startup or growing an existing enterprise.

The next scheduled legal issues workshop, Third Party Contracts and Commercial Leases, is designed to help small business owners understand the importance of third party contracts and how they can protect businesses from potentially devastating mistakes resulting from poorly prepared agreements.

The workshop is tomorrow, on Thursday, March 19, 2015, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., at SLATE, 1520 Market Street, 3rd Floor, St. Louis, MO 63103. We recommend parking at Kiel Center Garage, situated immediately behind our building, at the corner of Clark and 16th.

Taught by experienced business attorneys from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri at absolutely no charge for dislocated workers, this workshop will teach participants to differentiate good contracts from potentially damaging ones, understand essential contract terms, avoid breaching contracts and learn ways to handle agreement breaches by others. Participants also learn to understand the terms of commercial lease agreements along with potential hidden costs and possible legal disputes.

Legal Clinics such as this are made possible through the Entrepreneurs' Business Legal Assistance Program (EBLAP) - a partnership among SLATE, the St. Louis Development Corporation (SLDC), Small Business Empowerment Centers (SBEC) and Legal Services of Eastern Missouri (LSEM). The program primarily serves dislocated or laid off workers from the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County.

Watch for a complete EBLAP Calendar of Workshops to be posted soon on SLATE's website at For more information and to register, please contact Tiffany Todd, at (314) 657-3547, or register online at
