ST. LOUIS, September 19, 2017 – St. Louis job seekers have a new reason to visit the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE). Each week, SLATE hosts Workforce Wednesdays, keeping its doors open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. to offer resume and application help, job search support, and walk-in interview opportunities with local employers.
The highlight of Workforce Wednesdays is the same-day interview opportunities offered by local employers looking to hire new talent. Each week, St. Louis businesses conduct on-site interviews from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the SLATE offices at 1520 Market Street. Job seekers of all skill levels can meet and interview with a variety of companies for entry level, mid-career, and professional positions for in-demand industries such as healthcare, IT, manufacturing, hospitality, and many others. Employers are also looking to hire workers on-the-spot, to fill immediate openings.
Walk into the workforce, even without a resume! While job seekers should prepare for possible interviews by wearing appropriate attire, resumes are not necessary to join in the movement. SLATE Career Specialists are available to assist job seekers with creating resumes that they can share with interviewers.
Workforce Wednesdays were introduced by SLATE’s newly-appointed Executive Director, Dr. Alice M. Prince, to help our community obtain same-day access to tools for employment and begin the journey to individual prosperity.
“People need immediate income to adequately care for themselves and their families. If they come to SLATE looking for work or a career boost, needing a resume, or other job-seeking tools, our dedicated team will help to make it happen,” said Dr. Prince.
To join in Workforce Wednesdays and find your path to prosperity, visit the SLATE offices, located at 1520 Market Street – Third Floor. To learn more about available programs and workshops, read more online at stlworks.com, or call (314) 589-8000.
