Under general supervision, gathers, converts, analyzes, and reports GIS data; prepares and updates maps and exhibits with GIS data sets; maintains asset records; and using GIS data, applications, and tools to identify and solve problems for SLDC departments.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter and capable of working independently with minimal or no supervision and guidance
The ideal candidate will have a specialization in Community / Economic Development, some related design experience within the built environment, and knowledge of St. Louis and its economic development strategy.
Edit and maintain organization’s SDE including, but not limited to; layers, fields, domains, and associated attributes
Publish GIS data, maps, analysis, reports, charts, and graphs in the form of static and dynamic online content
Use of ArcGIS Model Builder or Python to automate updates of web layers and feature classes
In coordination with ITSA, create and develop maps or other GIS solutions according to client specifications
Adhere to set schedule, tracking and monitoring GIS projects to ensure start time and deadlines are met, keeping all stakeholders informed.
Initiate regular quality control checks of GIS Data to ensure data integrity and accuracy rectifying and documenting issues
Maintain GIS protocols and documentation including but not limited to; task guides, data dictionary
Use of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio for database management including, but not limited to; create table joins, access data from other databases, add users, and manager permissions
Convert data from older sources such as tables, legal descriptions, maps into digital format
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geoscience, Cartography, GIS or equivalent experience
Basic knowledge of business related software applications and services.
Working knowledge of:
Basic understanding of cartographic and graphic design principles to be able to think of color, symbology, fonts, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize
Basic research and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to multi task and time manage.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Requires St. Louis City residency within 180 days of successful completion of the probationary period.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Requires the ability to lift and carry files/papers of up to ten pounds.
Requires the ability to distinguish objects clearly in near vision for writing and computer work.
