Myisa Whitlock Selected as the SLDC Deputy Chief of Staff

ST. LOUIS— Myisa Whitlock joined the St. Louis Development Corporation as the SLDC Deputy Chief of Staff.

In this role, she will assist in developing the organizational strategic business initiatives to ensure implementation of the St. Louis Equitable Economic Development Strategy – the framework for equitable growth and prosperity for St. Louis. 

Myisa Whitlock is an equity focused and passionate community development practitioner with more than 15 years’ experience across a broad range of community and national human service organizations. A graduate of Saint Louis University and native of St. Louis, she grew up in the Botanical Heights neighborhood, where she lived with her family for over 30 years. 

She is an impact strategist with an array of diverse management experience in social services, low- income housing and community & economic development. Those experiences include project manager at Park Central Development, Executive Director for the Sainte Genevieve Housing Authority, where she administered HUD housing programs and the City of St. Louis, MO – Community Development Administration (CDBG Program). 

She also served as the former Director of Community and Economic Development for the City of East St. Louis, Illinois. In this role, she planned, coordinated and provided overall direction for various functions of the community and economic development department. She was also responsible for implementing the general city plan, code changes and zoning ordinances, and managing a $11,000,000 budget associated with the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program.  

She brings experience as a Diversity Leadership Fellow at Focus St. Louis, NAACP Youth Professional volunteer member, and member of several speaker’s series including the Harris Stowe Community Symposium. She has extensive community development experience as the former Senior Project Manager at Urban Strategies Inc. for the Choice Neighborhood Initiative. The $29.5 Million federally funded Choice Neighborhood will serve as catalyst to create critical pathways for Near North Side families, businesses and stakeholders to thrive. The Near North Side encompasses Carr and Columbus Square neighborhoods, Old North St. Louis, St. Louis Place and the New National Geospatial-Intelligence (NGA) site.
