Kingshighway Bridge Detour
Details of detour routes during bridge closure beginning July 6, 2015 until the bridge reopened on May 13, 2017.
Bridge Reopening Ceremony - May 13, 2017
The Kingshighway Boulevard bridge reopened on May 13, 2017. Four center lanes on the six-lane bridge are open to through traffic. The two remaining lanes, including lighted pedestrian walkways, will open later in the summer of 2017.
Detour Map
EASTBOUND I-44 to SOUTHBOUND Kingshighway: Use the Vandeventer Exit. turn right (Southwest) on Vandeventer, turn left to continue South on Kingshighway
NORTHBOUND Kingshighway: Make a right (Northeast) on Vandeventer, turn left (West) on McRee, turn right to continue North on Kingshighway
SOUTHBOUND Kingshighway: Make a left (East) on Shaw, turn right (Southwest) on Vandeventer, turn left to continue South on Kingshighway
Intersections along the above detour routes will be enhanced to accommodate additional traffic. See images below of the new traffic lane configurations. Engineers will also monitor signals at other intersections near the construction area to adjust timing as needed.

2) Vandeventer at McRee (I-44 off ramp) intersection
3) Kingshighway at Shaw intersection

5) Kingshighway / Vandeventer / Southwest intersection
Enhanced Intersection
Construction will take 2 years. When finished, the Shaw/Kingshighway intersection will be redesigned to improve traffic flow. Images below for illustration purposes only, final details may not be exact.
