TITLE:  Security Camera Operator

REPORTS TO:  Garage Manager
FLSA STATUS:  Full -Time, Non-Exempt
SHIFT:  Sunday - Saturday, 8 pm - 5 am

PRIMARY PURPOSE: 

Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties to ensure the security of the garage facilities and its premises by viewing video and still images taken by security/surveillance monitors. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications include High School Diploma or GED equivalent certification. Minimum six months security experience required; one year of law enforcement experience preferred. Must possess good observation skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong organizational skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail with excellent memory retention. Must possess a high level of interpersonal skill and the ability to deal with a variety of individuals. Good problem-solving skills: The ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Ability to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to handle typical and crisis situations efficiently and effectively in the absence of the facilities manager. Must be able to frequently prepare written reports and logs in neat, legible handwriting; may require computer skills. Ability to listen and understand directions, information and ideas presented verbally and in writing. Ability to operate a computer keyboard and to read and understand a variety of written materials such as directives, policies and operating procedures. Must possess ability to operate a two-way radio and surveillance equipment. Must possess a driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record and be insurable.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Monitor all areas of property, identify potential security and/or safety risks and report to management. 
Utilize necessary equipment, to identify, record, document and report illegal, suspicious or unusual activities occurring on property. Operate surveillance equipment for extended periods of time. Monitor assigned areas on a continuous basis to ensure complete coverage. Remain alert to suspicious activity and communicate such activity to management. Report malfunctioning equipment to management. Provide timely written detailed narrative reports. Maintain daily activity reports. Notify the police in any instance involving crime, disturbance or danger. Other duties assigned by supervisor or Treasurer’s Office management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary work that involves sitting for long periods of time; but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. May require continuous use of computer keyboard and other peripheral devices. Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination.  Requires the use hand and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; able reach with hands and arms.
