Candidates who possess a Class A, B or C Public Drinking Water Treatment System Operator Certification issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources will start at $42,978 annually. Candidates who possess a Stationary Engineer’s License issued by the City of St. Louis will start at $38,714 annually. Candidates who possess both will start at $47,684 annually.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position operate and maintain a coagulant house and filter plant in order to purify drinking water and ensure the safety of the drinking water system.

At least one year experience assisting in the operation of a water treatment facility. OR, an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Certification: Must obtain a Missouri Public Drinking Water Treatment System Operator Certification (Class D) by completion of the working test period.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application. At the time of the Oral Interview, applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license must present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Positions require shift, weekend and holiday assignments. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.
MEDICAL: A "Drug Screen" will be administered as part of the medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
