Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position provide investigative, educational, program coordination and patient intervention services under a variety of specialized health care initiatives such as Hepatitis/HIV/AIDS/STD/TB.
Note: Some of these positions are grant-funded term positions which will continue as long as the grant is in existence. Several hourly positions focusing on HIV/AIDS may also be filled from this examination.

A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Biological Sciences, Social Work, Sociology, Community Health Education, or Psychology; plus one year of health outreach experience in Communicable Disease. OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
Candidates must be willing to train and perform counseling and testing services which include venipucture, OraSure testing, OraQuick testing and other STD testing as assigned.
Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent verbal communication skills; the ability to maintain sensitive confidential information; experience performing counseling and testing services which include venipucture, OraSure testing, OraQuick testing and other STD testing procedures.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
