Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of audit policies and procedures for the Comptroller’s Internal Audit Section and the entire City of St. Louis. Duties include performing complex supervisory functions within the Internal Audit Section; developing an annual audit plan in conjunction with the Audit Manager and reporting on the status of the plan to the Comptroller; implementing and coordinating training for all auditors and representing the Comptroller on special projects and at meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field; plus seven years of experience in a high level financial management capacity which includes experience supervising auditing activities. At least three years of this experience must include supervising accounting/fiscal operations staff. OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Documentation of academic credentials must be submitted at the time of the Oral Interview.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field, licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the State of Missouri, and governmental accounting/fiscal management experience.
