This position is selected for the Hiring Incentive Program. The incentive shall be in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1500.00). The hiring incentive will be paid (if funds are available) by the Department/Division which appoints the applicant.
Nature of Work
Incumbents in this position perform field work for responding to customer complaints and inquires regarding underground Water and Traffic Division utility lines. Duties include searching for, identifying and labeling underground public mains, electrical wires, conduits and fiber optic cables owned by the City and responding to emergency locate requests.

Two years of experience locating water mains and/or underground water, electric or gas utility lines; OR, two years of experience in construction that includes using utility line detection equipment to locate utility mains and/or service lines; OR, an equivalent combination of training and experience.
License: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the time of the Oral Interview. Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.
A limited number of applicants may be scheduled for the Oral Interview based on an evaluation of their qualifying education, training and experience as listed on the Employment Application. Include reasons for changes in employers and explain any gaps in employment on the application. Incomplete and/or carelessly completed applications will not be considered. Resumes will not be accepted as a substitute to a fully completed application.
MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a “Drug Screen Test” as part of the medical examination.
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
