Nature of Work

Incumbents in this position are responsible for supervising park grounds maintenance and personnel.  Duties include planning, organizing, assigning and directing subordinates cutting grass, weeding, rolling and lining athletic fields, cleaning comfort stations, removing litter, debris and snow and setting up for special events.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of experience leading and participating in the landscaping, maintenance and care of parks, playgrounds,   athletic fields, floral displays and other related public areas.  OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license while employed by the City of St. Louis.  Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of filing application and be able to present it at the Oral Interview.  Please note type of license, number, class and expiration date on the Employment Application.  Applicants who do not have a Missouri driver's license must present a "Driving Record Check" from their State's Department of Motor Vehicles.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  At least one year of previous supervisory experience is preferred.

MEDICAL:  Candidates will be required to pass a "Drug Screen" as part of their medical examination.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS:  To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview.  The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
